This project aims to fills a gap in both communication scholarship and professional development by using the “best practices” approach to investigate corporate social responsibility communication (CSR) in Asia. Drawing upon the Circuit of Culture (COC) framework and Communication Constitutes Organization (CCO) theory, this study aims to explore the interplay between macro- and meso-factors to uncover the communication and aspirational talk-action tension dynamics connected with the sensemaking and co-creation of best practices in Asia among key stakeholder groups by conducting a systematic review of relevant articles and industry reports, cultural discourse analysis of sustainability reports and participatory observation with industry practitioners and CSR academics amidst the development of ESG (Environment Social Governance).

Results of this grant project help identify the key factors, communication dynamics and aspirational talk-action tension management in order to construct a relevant model for best practices in CSR communication and stakeholder engagement is Asia, which has been transferred into this ESG Communication open-source website to educate communication students and CSR practitioners in Asia with over 10 company exemplars from Hong Kong and Singapore that operate their businesses in Greater China and Asia.
